We run a beekeeping operation with around 300 colonies in the Municipality of Meaford and the Beaver Valley. For the past five years, we’ve been working on regenerative beekeeping systems and selective breeding, learning how to work with our bees rather than against them.

In this class, we’ll talk about

1. Seasonal cycles of honeybees,

2. Basic genetics,

3. Working with their natural tendencies,

4. Advanced integrated pest management.

We’ll share what we’ve been learning in our own operation and how these ideas come together in the way we manage our colonies.

Our approach is to keep bees with nature, rather than fighting their instincts to make them do what we want. By understanding their cycles and behaviour, we can work alongside them and make better decisions for our colonies.
